How it works

IAE Aix students can use the SIP computer lab for assignments. The opening hours of the lab are:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM / 8:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM / 4:30 PM

The use of computers sometimes requires assistance... Thus, any student can request assistance from the lab supervisor on duty for advice, diagnostic, and even recovery. Personal training and troubleshooting on students' own personal computers cannot be done by lab supervisors.

At the beginning of the academic year, IAE Aix students receive floppy disks, an e-mail address and a personal network account and login. The network account provides access to internet browsing and e-mail usage for one year as well as disk space on the servers and access to shared disks from any network computer.

Documentation, CD-ROMs, audio and video tapes can be used in the lab.      

Computer Classes

The SIP offers computer classes from October to December on Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and the Internet.

Classes are from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday to Thursday. Each class is offered several times from October to December so that students can accommodate their schedule with the classes.

Unless otherwise indicated, these classes are optional. It is, however,  necessary to register as soon as possible. Deadline for registration is one week before class.

Hardware

The SIP offers self-service personal computers with standard setup (MS Windows 95). Other computers are available for specialised operations: printing, desktop publishing, multimedia, finance, etc.

  • SIP-LS, permanent self-service (30 computers): standard and specialised setups, printers, scanners, Apple Macintoshes, Reuters.
  • SIP1 and SIP2, training rooms (15 computers in each room): standard setups. These rooms may be booked in advance for classes.
  • SIP3, multimedia lab (10 multimedia computers, 5 VCRs with monitors): computers for language training and CD-ROM use. These rooms may be booked in advance for classes.
  • Meeting Rooms (14 computers): specialised setups. These rooms may be booked in advance for presentations and seminars.
