On-campus business start-up Incubator

The IAE Aix Graduate School of Management set up an on-campus business start-up incubator in 2001. It is the product of a partnership between IAE Aix-en-Provence, the Sun Microsystems France Computer Group and Samenar , a specialist in regional venture capital.

This incubator provides the IAE Aix with the high-level technologies and tools needed to encourage the development and implementation of Business Plans within the training context. Our programmes, such as the MBA Change & Technology, the Master's in Management and Information Technologies and the Master's in General Management, offer "entrepreneurial" options. Expert advice is given for accompany projects. This 'Incubator" programme also offers privileged access to venture capital.

Our partners

Sun Microsystems, a major designer and producer of computers for businesses, schools and the Internet, has developed the Campus Incubator programme to encourage the development of start-ups created by graduate students around the world. Sun invests in high-level schools, equipping them with its equipment and related products, providing a robust design environment available to selected students for 6-month periods to test their Marketing concepts.

Samenar, a regional venture capital centre, was created by the Caisse d'Epargne et la Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation (a French Savings Bank). It is a venture capital specialist that Sun accepted for this programme. Samenar participates by helping in the choice of business plans, providing its skills to programme participants and cultivating close relations with them by acquiring shares.

Sun Microsystems, concepteur et fabricant informatique de premier ordre pour les entreprises, les écoles et l'Internet, a développé le programme de pépinière en Campus pour favoriser le développement des start-up créées à l'initiative de participants de 3ème cycle dans le monde entier. Sun investit dans les écoles de haut niveau en les équipant de ses matériels et produits liés et offre un environnement de conception robuste et disponible aux participants sélectionnés, leur permettant de tester leurs concepts Marketing.

Samenar, société de capital risque régionale, a été créée par la Caisse d'Epargne et la Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation. Elle a été séléctionnée par Sun comme spécialiste du capital risque pour ce programme et participe en aidant aux choix des plans d'entreprise, en apportant des compétences aux bénéficiaires du programme et en cultivant avec eux des relations étroites par la prise de participations.

Operating Principle

The incubator is presented at the start of the school year to the participants in training at the IAE Aix. Projects are selected every 6 months by a commission based on the business plan. Priority is given to students taking an "Entrepreneurship" option. The students whose projects are selected - approximately 5 projects are accepted - will have access to the entire environment for 6 months.

Dolène

Dolène is a company of sale of furniture and objects of decoration to the professionals.

Its site, www.dolene.com, allows the retail dealers in decoration to order on-line and to reach the catalog products constantly renewed. Other privileged services are offered to them as the follow-up order, delivery, invoices, real time.

Dolène sells average and up-market products and tries to advance new creators by proposing furniture and original objects of decoration.

The founder, Solène Vandervorst is a DESS MTI alumni (2002).

ProListe

Prolist is a service of management computerized by the registrations on waiting lists in the specialised establishments of reception: old persons, rehabilitation, convalescence, following care, etc...
It is about a reassured access to a base of datum connected to an Internet server intended for the professionals of the sanitary and social sector in charge of the coordination of the movements of persons. This tool of rational and effective management of waiting lists optimises the processes of admittance or transfer.

The founder, Jean-Paul Rigole is a specialised in information systems of in the medical field; his double ancillary medical and computer competence in fact an interlocutor privileged by the actors of the medical and social sector.
Further to the DESS MTI, he entered the incubator in April, 2002 to develop with a team of trainees the server Web and his data base, but also all the financial and functional analysis of the ProListe service there (ethical charter, statement CNIL, Business Plan etc.)

Prolist Sarl (with a capital of 8 500 €) began its activity in March, 2003.
